A captured pirate at the Bastille Day Street Festival at Eastern State Penitentiary.
The guillotine waiting for Marie Antoinette.
A peasant yells up at Marie Antoinette.
A child in the crowd waves her French flag as a show of support.
Marie Antoinette eats a butterscotch krimpet after declaring, “Let them eat Tastykakes!”
A peasant girl joins in the rowdy crowd.
Nearly 2,000 Tastykakes are hurled from the walls of the Bastille to the people below.
Yep, that’s a man dressed as a woman.

“C’est incroyable”/ or it’s incredible, in French!
I am a 20 year US expat in France and find this so unreal! In France, there is a huge military parade and scores of dances in villages. Also, the fire stations host the public. But, rarely are there reinactments!
Great expressions and feeling on those faces

You seems to have a lot of fun for our National Day! Your report reminds me all the reinactments we did in 1989 to celebrate the 200 years jubilee. I was a child at the time and found it really fun! But apart of the 200 Jubilee we don’t do reinactment.
14 July = Military parade (one day I’ll go, but hard to wake up haha) + long sleep in the morning + fireman bal + lunch offered by municipality to its citizens in minor towns.
